Today was Decades Day for Spirit Week. (aka pick something out of my wardrobe) I had fun channeling the 70's. American Hustle anyone?

 It's been a while- three years in fact -so why am I posting now? This has been something I have been thinking about starting back up and then on Saturday I had a makeover at Ulta with the brand Smashbox and I thought, I am never going to be able to recreate this look again. (Although I will try!) ps. the makeover was free - if this is something that sounds fun to you - just sign up at your local Ulta.


A few pointers worth noting to create this vintage inspired look:

• the stylist layered up the concealer and foundation to erase the details of my face and then contoured details back in
• My lips were covered with concealer and then a lip liner before applying the lipstick
• Everything was neutral colors with no shimmer
• Eyeliner was only applied to the top and the waterline (under the lashes on the top)
• because this is a neutral look with the lips being the feature - no blush was applied 
• I purchased the Raven eyeliner and the matte taupe brow pencil - however I have my eye on the contour kit

So whats on my face?!? Here is a list. These are all Smashbox products- which is a line made to photograph well.  (from their website : this brand focuses on long-lasting products designed to give a flawless look befitting of Hollywood stars)

So I am finally getting back to blogging and talking about what I have been up to this summer. In June Mr. Manfriend and I went to Canada to visit my sister and brother-in-law. It was a week of 50 degree weather and sunsets at 11 pm. Over the next few days I am going to post a few of our adventures in the Great White North. Starting with Calgary, Alberta.

Chicago Weekend

Mr. Manfriend and I spent the weekend in Chicago to celebrate our one year anniversary.  This year has gone by so fast. The city felt so alive, there is so much to do. Some of what we did was planned and some we stumbled on to. I feel like I have not taken advantage of living so close to the city and hope to plan another trip there soon.  Here are some pics of our adventures. Enjoy!

I can't believe that it has been one year since AJ and I got married. It was truly the most amazing day of my life. I wouldn't change a thing, and I feel super blessed that I can honestly say that.

Sorry for the recent hiatus. When I started this blog it was my goal to post at least 3x a week. With school coming to an end (6 more days!) that has not happened. But with Summer just around the corner, I'm back! :) and now for today's post which will require some participation.

 Mr. Manfriend and I have birthdays that are a day apart, which means that that we have a dual Birthday Bash, obviously. This Saturday is our third Birthday Luau and the quest for a Luau dress has begun. Typically I have a hard time finding tropical wear that matches my aesthetic, but this year I found three dresses online, partially because of Target's new Specialty shops, so I of course ordered all three. Please vote and let me know which one is your fave.
